Fixing stuff around you.

Once scrolling through my Instagram feed, a video lighted upon my screen. In that video, a military person was delivering his motivational speech to the group of elderly people. The military officer was saying, “If you wanna change the world, start off by making your bed.” I found two strange things in that video:

  1. A military officer suggesting you to start from just making your bed if you want to change the world (A big place indeed).
  2. Addressing these words of making the bed to elderly group of people.

At first, I kept on scrolling and didn’t bother myself to watch that lame video. But then another day, the same video was waiting for my watch. Then thinking to myself: “Asma, Dekh lo Surely it’ll not get wasted.” Then I gave that video a watch. And I thought of practicing it just for the sake of experience. So I did. And obviously it didn’t change my whole life. But it really helped me to get myself even more organized and focus attentively on my significant tasks. Moving ahead the video said: “If you will make your bed every morning you will have accomplished one task of the day and it’ll give you a sense of pride. And will encourage you to do another task of day, then another, then another, another.” This was quite pushing and motivational.

Then came the “Fixing your stuff” activity by AMAL, that reminded of this video. I watched that again and it really made sense. So the task here was to clean any stuff around you that actually needed your attention. Watching my room like a hawk, I figured out that my dear STUDY TABLE needed my consideration the most. The books, the pencil box and every other thing on that table needed to fixed. So it was the time to clean it up. I managed the things properly. Kept all the books and registers on the piles according to their sizes, arranged the pencil and pens in the box. And in no time I got it managed efficiently. THIS ACTUALLY GAVE ME A SENSE OF PRIDE.

Truly speaking if this wasn’t the part of AMAL’S Project Work, I still have done it because this organization habit benefits me the most. Beside giving me a sense of pride it can really help me to pick up the thing that I need right on time. So ultimately help me do my tasks in right time as well (A thought on a broader perspective). But as this was my Project Work also so it also helped me to have this sense of satisfaction that I have done one part of my PW also.

So here is my table after my amazing skill of Leadership.

The thing I learnt via this activity is that Leadership starts with managing yourself well. Not only the stuff around you but also your emotions, your relations and most importantly your GOALS.

Here is the video, you can watch it yourself and learn Leadership starting from the most petty thing; making the bed and then ending up onto leading THE WORLD.
