We are a non-profit organization working to provide career counseling services to the underprivileged students in Pakistan.

The proposition of kindness is considerable but this thought of kindness will leave no footprints until a scheme is being devised to execute it. The scheme once devised needs our just start approach. The main goal of our foundation, Khudi Educational Foundation, was to give students thought about them. For this, we organized the curriculum that matches their level of thinking and was impactful enough to make them aware of their abilities. We divided the whole curriculum into four parts and designed the content in a very precise way. That included some interesting and engaging activities and few thoughtful questions as well.

Progress

“The first steps are always the hardest but until they are taken the notion of progression only remains a notion and not an achievement.”

Till the very start of this notion of Kindness and creating a change in the society starting from us, we have been successful in conducting four sessions in a Higher School of Lahore, Rachna Executive School System. In that school, we addressed 35 students of grade 9th and 10th combined. We, as a team, tried to keep the sessions as interactive as we could. We also made them fill some evaluation forms regarding self-confidence and their future goals.

Social Media Awareness:

We successfully posted every session's details on our social media page.

Meeting with School Principle

On the very first day, we had a meeting with the Principal, Mr. Muhammad Latif, of that school. He did M.Phil. from Uloom-e-Islamia. He enlightened us with his life experiences. He had immersed experience in different Govt. organizations. He did his first job in CBR, his second job at Atomic Energy, and his third one at State Bank. We also introduced him to our project and told him about our goals in the future. At the end of the last session his gratitude lines for our circle were:

“I wish to establish a series of free education institutions with modern ideas. Your team was the best one and the children learnt so many things in the sessions. God bless you all”.

Session 1: Time Management: 01–02–21

In the first session, the soft skill that we talked about was Time Management. This skill is one of the most crucial skills that we need to have to achieve our goals. By making the students of 9th and 10th-grade practice these skills, we can address them the importance of this as well.

The main points discussed in the session were:

1. Taking Notes

2. No comparison

3. The importance of starting now

4. Strength and weaknesses (weaknesses+ efforts= strength)

5. Softs Skill

6. Time Management

7. Evaluation Form Explanation and filling.

Session 2: Self Confidence (02–02–21)

Students are often in need of a constant boost, especially when they’re young. So by keeping in view this point Our Circle designed a second session on Confidence Building and Leadership skills. Content/Lesson was designed to help students understand how successfully solving a problem or meeting a challenge can increase their self-confidence. The main points and activities included in the lesson were:

1. Interview of students (Purpose of this activity was to overcome their fear and nervousness while facing people).

2. Group Discussion (Purpose of this activity was to build leadership skills among students)

3. Also included two motivational videos in a lesson to encourage the students.

4. Additional tips

At the end of the session, students were able to overcome their nervousness and fear of speaking openly. They identified the challenges and their weak areas and committed that they will apply positive thinking while facing adversities in their life.

Session 3: Focus (03–02–21)

The second soft skill that we discussed in our third session was related to “Focus”. In our lecture, we emphasized the significance of focus. We also highlighted some related key terms like passion. Also organized a FUN Activity in a class by asking students to make a to-do list to keep themselves focused. We shared the ‘Eisenhower Matrix’ with students to explain how they can prioritize their tasks. Overall, this session proved to be so fruitful for students and they showed their interest with full focus and interest.

Session 4: Career Counseling 04–02–21

Career counseling, also known as career guidance, is counseling designed to help with choosing, changing, or leaving a career and is available at any stage in life. One’s career is often one of the most important aspects of adulthood, and embarking on a new career, whether for the first time, the second time, or any time thereafter, can be a stressful event, especially when economic difficulties such as recession are a factor. This topic was really difficult to address and one of the challenging tasks for us. So for this, we invited a guest speaker, Mr. Syed Muzammil Hussain. He has immense experience in career counseling.

He successfully conducted the whole session, guiding the students about the importance of selecting the career right according to their interests.

Difficulties/Challenges that we faced

• Time Management Issues due to busy educational routine/exams

  • Lack of professional training & skills for delivering a lecture on career counseling as we are also students. However, later on, we resolved this challenge by inviting a professional and experienced mentor Mr. Syed Muzammil Hussain.

• Students evaluation

Certificate Distribution

On the last day of our four amazing interactive sessions at Rachna Executive School System, we distributed certificates among more than 50 students to appreciate and encourage them.

As an honor, we presented a shield to our guest speaker Mr. Syed Muzammil Hussain.

Positive Impacts

Our interactive sessions proved to be positively impactful as students showed good responses. Students got the chance to learn the most important things like time management, communication skills, and confidence-building. Our sessions made students look far beyond and plan their educational as well as a professional career in a better way.

In short, these types of interactive sessions help students taste the things that they will have to face in the future and get them in a direction where they start learning those myths in the early stages.

Future Goals:

“With Goals, you can create the future in advance.”

We are enthusiastically ready to carry on the project in the future as well via:

  1. Volunteer calls
  2. Connecting with the organizations

The most impactful aspect of this project is that when I told my friend circle about my goals and what I actually want to achieve via these sessions. They really appreciated me and were ready to volunteer them for the next project. I am also ready to pursue this onward. This way we can create an impact on society.

Our Organization also aims to expand the circle and reach out to all schools in Lahore as well as in Village schools. In the future, our organization has a great team of instructors, motivational speakers, career consultants and we also aim to invite guest speakers from all around Pakistan In sha Allah ☺.

We have built a trusted presence on social media by conducting this pilot project. In the future to make the Foundation more sustainable we will conduct charity drives to pay for the expenses. It will make the project more sustainable and we will be able to keep it up for the long term.

“The Best Way to Find Yourself Is To Lose Yourself in The Service of Others”.
